About the lab

Handled by hand, one at a time, since 2001.

Legacy Digital Productions was founded by Scott Foster in Orange, California in 2001 and is still family owned and operated. Scott still does the work himself. Every slide, negative and print is scanned in our own building, which is why we can tell you where your boxes are at any point and why the order you packed them in is the order they come back.

Work you may have seen

Alongside family collections, our work has been used by CBS, ABC, Disney Animation, Paramount and Sony. The same scanners and the same hands do both.

Volume is where collections get damaged.

A bulk feeder is how thousands of prints get scanned in an afternoon, and it is also how a crease, a scratch or a lost image happens. The lab handles still images one at a time: logged by container, inspected for mould and fading, scanned at a resolution the original can actually use, and returned in the order they arrived. Slower, and the point.

Nearly 20,000 customers have trusted the lab with images that exist nowhere else.
